	The Grande Anse des Salines (saltworks), with its coconuts and raisiniers is the beach of the Caribbean certainly most known throughout the world. The Savanna of the Pétrifications (Savane des Pétrifications), vestige of an old volcano, is a geological site with an arid and surprising nature.Years ago, one found in this savanna blocks of wood (silicified), agathes, jaspers, chalcedonies. This savanna is located in a volcanic and argillaceous plate of ten hectares of an average altitude of 10 meters above the sea at the Pointe d'Enfer. From the Savane des Petrifications, one can reach the Anse Trabaud, one of the most beautiful beach of the island. The Savane des Pétrifications is a site classified by the Parc Naturel Régional de la Martinique.

Etang des Salines

Behind the Grande Anse des Salines, the Etang (pond) des Salines, communicates with the sea by a narrow channell located at the edge of the Savanna of the Petrifications. With the littoral forests, the saltworks and the mangroves, this pond composes a single natural site still preserved in Martinique.

The Savanna of the Petrifications is a site classified by the Regional Natural reserve of Martinique (Parc Naturel Régional de la Martinique).
